Alta Sweet Tabar loved performing arts ever since she was young. She was awarded the America First Scholar Athlete for her academic success, dedication to volunteerism, and athletic abilities in cheer and dance.

She’s now a singer, dancer, model, actress, and social media influencer. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to pursue my dreams and share my talents with others,” Alta adds.

As someone with diverse talents, which of your passions—dancing, singing, acting, cheerleading or social media influencing—do you enjoy the most and why?

How do you balance your academic pursuits with your involvement in various activities?

Alta admits how challenging it is to balance her academic and extracurricular activities. Fortunately, she relies on organizing and prioritizing her time to ensure that she gets to enjoy the best of both worlds. Her secret in managing different roles isn’t rocket science — she sets aside specific time for studying and practicing her performing arts, as both are equally important.

What inspired you to become a scholar-athlete, and how do you manage to excel both academically and athletically?

Alta has always been passionate about academics and athletes. The challenge of managing and balancing both responsibilities motivates her to strive for improvement every day.

As a student-athlete, Alta has developed a strong work ethic, which she is confident she’ll carry for the rest of her life. She says, “Excelling academically and athletically takes dedication, discipline, and perseverance,” which is why she always prioritizes her time, sets goals, and works hard to achieve all of them.

She also surrounds herself with supportive people to receive the encouragement and guidance she needs. By being with the right people, she’ll have more reasons to achieve her best.

Could you share some insights into your experiences as a cheerleader and dancer? How have these activities shaped you as a person?

Growing up, Alta was trained in various dance styles. She was also a student in the Professional Training Division at Ballet West Academy, where she trained for more than eight hours on most days. She was fortunate to attend a school that could accommodate her training schedule.

According to Alta, her enthusiasm for cheerleading began when she joined the sport back in high school. These activities became her avenue to learn about discipline, perseverance, and hard work. It is also through these activities that Alta learned to push herself and never give up.

All of her pursuits — both in the past and the present — shaped her into who she is today. She is beyond grateful for the opportunities she has that enabled her to grow and develop both as a person and as an athlete.

How do you approach your role as a social media influencer? What kind of content do you enjoy creating the most?

Alta enjoys making uplifting and fun content, including dancing, singing, acting, and cooking videos. “I really enjoy diving into my creativity and bringing the visions I have into life,” she adds. Among all the content she makes, short-form content of fun and uplifting dance videos is her favorite.

With a significant following on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, how do you engage with your fans and maintain their loyalty?

Alta engages with her followers on various social media platforms by replying to the comments they leave and creating content that resonates with them. Her goal has always been to spread positivity and make people feel happy, and she thinks that this is the reason why her supporters keep coming back to her profiles.

Alta is always on the lookout for ways to improve and connect with her audience. She’s also very open to suggestions and feedback from them.

One of Alta’s most meaningful interactions with a fan through social media was when a special needs woman reached out to her and told her that her content improves her tough days. How do you use your platform and influence to give back to the community? Can you tell us about any philanthropic activities you’re involved in?

Alta is currently donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sending personal messages to the patients there weekly. She believes that it’s extremely important to give back and make a positive impact on the world, and she’s happy to have the opportunity to do that through St. Jude.
